Tulips by photocell Tulips by photocell
You know spring is here when you see a lot of tulip shots on DA, and this is my contribution. I hope it's different enough for you to enjoy it.

Taken in a coffee shop called Daisy's funnily enough :)

If this becomes available as a print, I'm getting it for my Mom. She collects Tulip and Poppy pictures. I would like to see this one hanging up in her house, it's very easy on the eyes.

Different, yes. This isn't your typical Tulip shot. A better sence of depth, then most. Good job.

hmmm if it was a tad brighter I could enjoy it much more.
the naturally vivid colours drown in the black/darkness a bit I think.

tulips in Daisy's...no no, that doesn't add up at all. i must say you successfully took a different type of flower picture: taking it inside. and it worked out awesome. the lighting is great, the way it makes the center two light up and glow. and a great depth of field too.

Another brilliant shot. So captivating .

I love the paper thin quality of the petals so surreal and almost untouchable as the light simply illuminates the, completely as they seem to stand blind, faceless and yet with full attention like hearts waiting to be broken. I love the strict posture of the vertical stems in comparison to the intangible quality of the actual flowers. I love the way the yellowing colour seals the flowers to the stalks, like light bulbs to the eye.

Great bordering this chunky style is working well for you current deviations although I thin perhaps the stroke effect of the red could be perhaps a pixel thicker or so as I find chunky borders look strange without a definite linear bordering between picture and space.

"Tulpen uit Amsterdam!!!"

Yup.. spring is here and so are those nice Dutch Tulips (from Amsterdam :P). Nice DOF and colors. I only wish to see a good focus point on the front Tulips, but that is just my 2 cents. Nice shot!

Actually, tulips were introduced to western Europe from Istanbul (Constantinapole) in the 16th century. There is a whole era in history of the Ottoman Empire dedicated to tulips, which in fact marked the descent of the Empire. The Dutch obviously recognised the beauty of this incredible flower and did so much better than the Ottomans :P

Anyway, with regards the focus, I can tell you that I used manual focus in this shot and this was as sharp as I could get it with that lens, which is the best it can manage when wide open  Still, I am totally pleased with this shot.

Thank you for your input :)

Amazing shot.... :+fav: The colours really stand out. However one small critic; I Think that when you have an image with so bright colours you should consider using a white border... Because the black border takes all the light colours away to make it a sort of dark picture.... Anyways great shot!

You know, I did think about the white border but because of the dark areas around the corners I settled for black to give it continuity.

Thank you very much for your input though. I do appreciate your hones opinion.

Oh, and thanks a bunch for the :+fav:

I love this photo with its wide black border (I'm a big fan of fat borders ) and the soft tones and focus .. beautifully beautifully done. I also like the way that the tulip that is in focus in not in the center, clever adds a personal depth to it rather than it just being tulips (gods I nearly wrote tupils!! ;))
I've got purple tulips right next to yellow daffies at home .. they are so beautiful to look at

Heh he, you know I like your wide borders honey. Where do you think I got the idea from? ;)

Thanks for noticing the focus. I did use manual focus on this. I though it would work better that way because the centre was under light and illimunated anyway.

nice,
this is true, around the holidays, and different seasons, there always seem to be specific pictures that are seen quite often.

very nice view. I like seeing things I see all of the time, in a different way.
What you've done here that is so amazing is you've taken something seemingly bright, cheerful, and "spring," and used it to your own advantage, by making it dark, and mysterious, a very creative effect.

I've never seen anything quite like it. great work here hakan.
take care.
